About: Who are we?
We are Laila Dybkjær and Hans Dybkjær. We have been working together on spoken dialogue systems since 1991 where we started at what was then called the Center for Cognitive Science (CCS) at Roskilde University. This research center moved to the University Southern of Southern Denmark in Odense in 1997 and changed its name to Natural Interactive Systems Laboratory (NISLab). NISLab existed in Odense for 10 years until 2007 when it was closed.
We are married and have been together since we started at Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen. So guess what many discussions are about when we are together :-) Luckily, our two children have other, sound interests. Since 1997 we have been working in different places, but we still enthusiastically work together on spoken dialogue systems and related issues.
We are very grateful to the inspiration, visions and friendship generously offered by Niels Ole Bernsen who is a professor and the leader of first CCS and later NISLab.
Work presented here from before 1998 is done jointly between Niels Ole Bernsen and us.
